Random Thoughts on Tommy................

Silly Tommy

Some of my favorite Tommy words:
Meow=Kitty

Mimi=Ambulance/Firetruck/Police Car

Nie Nie=Grandma Jane
YaYa=Duck
Blue=his lovie the blue blankie

Tommy LOVES to pray at meal times. He is so cute, he folds his little hands and bows his little head and tries to say "Dear GAAAAA, yummys, ba, Arley (Charlie), Dada, Momma, Beep Beep, Meow etc" He doesn't have the exact words down but you can understand what he is trying to say. So precious!

August 22nd: Tommy starts speech therapy! The outlook is very good! The therapist believes that he has the words and that he is trying to say them. The issue is that there are several letter sounds, T, W, B, S that he does not use. Once he learns these sounds and starts using them we should be able to understand him much better!! We are going 1x a week and we hope to be finished with therapy within a month or two.

August 24th: 1st four letter sentence: "Dada, babble pop pease" Daddy, bubble pop pease.

September: The kids and I attended new program at our new church today. Usually, Tommy is very clingy and cries whenever we leave him at the nursery at church. This is something that really has been heavy on my heart and I just hate seeing him get so upset. Childcare was an issue for us at the church we previously attended and so we are beyond thrilled that Tommy seems to be settling in to the new routine rather amazingly!! We have gone to service at this new church 3 times, the kids have only been twice. Tommy whimpered the first time we dropped him off but the women working immediately swept him up and diverted his attention to the trucks in the closet. I heard him settle down within seconds and he did great that day! The second time we dropped him off he went right on in and made himself comfortable. And today, well I don't think he even knew that I had left!! This is something I have prayed about and I am overjoyed that so far this transtion to a new setting has gone so remarkably well!

Tommy is attempting to say more and more words and says several word sentences. He is progressing and we are thrilled. He is trying so hard, poor boy. I just hate seeing him get so frustrated and will help him in any way that I can.

Did I mention that Tommy is our daredevil? Just the other day I caught him scaling the fence. You know, the fence that we had to buy a special lock for to keep this child in the yard because he is more then capable of unlocking any locked door or gate. Oh yes, I found this out the hard way. I had to excuse myself one morning to tend to some business, you know the kind, and I left the boys in the family room safe and sound. Screen door locked, baby gate secure, Bob the Builder on the tube. Not even 2 minutes later, I hear Charlie half laughing half screeching "Mommmmmmmm, Tommy is outside". WHAT!!! Yes, the little darling had some how figured out how to push the little black piece on the knob of the screen door. And when pushed, regardless of if the door is locked or not, will automatically open the screen door. Instant freedom. Luckily, Tommy had only managed to escape to the porch before I could sprint to the back door. Had the neighbors been outside, they surely would have gotten a sight! I think we shall call him Houdini.

Tommy loves to have his leg rubbed when I am putting him to sleep and for me to sing the first verse of Rock A By Baby, then hum the rest. He will rub his leg and start to hum the song when he wants me to do it....he is so cute!! Can I eat him?

Tommy's Character Chart...he a character that is for sure!
Love you buddy!

Random Thoughts on Charlie...................

Today is August 5th and it is the first day that are little star Charlie has been able to successfully pedal his trike. Oh how I wish I had my camera in hand for the big moment but I know that not some moments are just to be lived and not captured on film!
Mommy "Go Charlie, PUSH, PEDAL, PUSH with your feet!!! YEAH Charlie you ARE doing it!!"
Charlie "Mama, God taught me how to pedal! Oh Mama, I am so proud"
Later during sandbox talks mid shovel of sand into dump truck, Charlie "Mama, some kids ride a lot faster then me"
Mommy: "Char, someday you will ride super fast too! You just have to keep practicing!"
Charlie: "Can I practice tomorrow?!!!!
We are SO proud of you too little bear!

When Charlie grows up he wants to have a HUGE steam train that he can drive and a spaceship in his backyard so that he can take Mommy to outer space and show her all planets.

It is so cute when we catch Charlie sounding like us, well sometimes it is cute ;). The other day Tommy was less then playing nice with Charlie. I believe that Tommy swiped a coveted train that Charlie was playing with. After the screaming subsided and the train was handed back to its original owner, Tommy was asked to make amends to his big brother, "Ahwee (sorry)" and a kiss is usually how it goes. And then Charlie piped up as he hugged his little brother "Tommy, I love you but I really don't like that you did that". Love it!

September: We are starting homeschooling a year earlier then originally planned! I am so excited and can't wait to get the materials that I have ordered for Charlie's curriculum! It is going to be an adventure!

Charlie is really into creating model train sets on the dining room table. He so creative, making tank trucks out of large springs and legos, using blankets piled up as mountains and vacuum attachments as crane.

He has also taken to reading his train magazines out in the "book club" or his tree house.

Oh yes, the train magazines, you know the book like brochures that die hard train fanatics drool over. Yes, our Charlie is one of them you know. We got a bunch at a train "show" that we went to and after less then a year of daily reading, loving and drooling on, Trent was able to score some more from a co-worker. Thank goodness because there is only so many times that one can tape together a magazine!

The Woods

We like to walk in the woods

to be surrounded by nature

to run and be free

to explore and touch things

to be together

to eat

to love
In the woods we can easily see our strengths

And clearly see what is important

We love walking in the woods.

Orange Is the Color Of Love

Dad, Mom, brother and Charlie riding in the car after dinner, on our way to the woods. Dad spots a kid riding on a 2 wheeler painted.... orange,Charlie spots a car....painted orange, Charlie spots a house....painted orange.

Charlie: "When I grow up I am going to have an orange car, and an orange bike and an orange house. Mama, can I have an orange house when I grow up?"

Mom: "Well, sure you can. But you might need to ask your wife about that one."

Charlie: "My wife?"

Mom: "Yeah Charlie, someday you might have a wife. You know, I am Daddy's wife"

Charlie: "But Mommmmmm, you are my wife"

He's making his list and checking it twice, He is going to find out who has been naughty or nice....Santa Claus is coming to town!

Every year we go through the same dance.

Starting around late summer the dance starts to look something like this:

Me: "Honey, what do you want for Christmas?"

Trent: " I don't know, let me think about it."

Early Fall the dance routine gets into full swing:

Me: "Honey, have you thought about what you want for Christmas?"

Trent: "Not really, I'll think about it"

Late Fall the dance routine has become very complicated:

Me: "Honey! You seriously need to tell me what you want for Christmas!"

Trent: "Ok, I'll think about it"

And even though I love dancing with my husband I hate doing the dance with him! So this year, I asked the dreaded "What do you want for Christmas?" question and this is the lovely reply that I received.............

Snips and snails, and puppy-dogs' tails.......

No fear! Holding little baby snakes that we found squirming around our feet in Erie as the boys and I played in the woods with some new friends.

Mommy was not as brave!

And no fear about picking up a snake.....that is what little boys are made of!
